The Sinden Thackeray Partnership is a well established client-friendly firm of Chartered Accountants based in Rochester in Kent.
Between us we have many years of experience in advising small and medium sized local businesses both on day to day business tasks and on future development plans and helping them to comply with the numerous tax, VAT, payroll, audit, accountancy and bookkeeping obligations imposed upon them by Government.
We prepare self-assessment Tax Returns for individuals and partnerships, undertake self-assessment tax calculations and estimate appropriate payments on account. Our clients range from pensioners where income just exceeds the available allowances to directors and partners with substantial earned and unearned income.
For businesses, including partnerships, sole traders and limited companies, we prepare management and year end accounts, VAT Returns and payroll and undertake audits as required. We offer assistance with bookkeeping and advice on business management and development, cashflow and debt collection.
We aim to offer a fairly priced high quality service to all our clients. In-house, we use the Iris Accounting software, which is an integrated package that maximises the efficient use of data and, hence minimises costs to the client. For clients we can work with most accounting packages but specialise in the use of Sage software, on which we can also supply training on both accounts and payroll. We are happy to visit your premises or your home, or to see you at our offices.
We are registered with the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales to carry out audit work and undertake a range of statutory and non statutory audit assignments including manufacturing companies, charities and solicitors accounts rules audits.
Vivien Thackeray BA FCA is the proprietor of the business. After graduating from Cambridge University she worked for a few years with the civil service before training with a medium sized firm in London. She then worked in Zambia with Coopers & Lybrand where she became a partner. On her return to the UK in 1988, she joined a medium sized Kent based firm and subsequently left them to set up in partnership with Michael Sinden in Rochester. She has worked in Rochester since 1992.
Michael Sinden FCA, who was previously a partner and in practice in Rochester for over 30 years, has now retired but remains as a consultant to the business. He offers many years of experience in the accountancy and business worlds to our clients.
Chris Kember MAAT is AAT qualified and is also our practice manager. Chris has been with us since November 2007 but has worked in accountancy for over 20 years. He has extensive computer expertise which he applies to his audit, accountancy, VAT and tax work.
Derek Kember has worked in accountancy in Rochester all his life and has been with this firm and its predecessor for over 25 years. He deals with a wide range of clients but specialises in the farming industry.
Ann Shanks ACCA trained with a medium-sized Kent-based firm, where she qualified as a Certified Accountant in 1992. Ann worked in London for over 5 years then left to set up her own practice, ACS Accountancy Services Limited. Ann merged her practice into STP in July 2010. She now works as a consultant to the practice, giving the firm the benefit of her specialist knowledge in the fields of financial services and insurance.
Anita Martin MAAT joined us in May 2010 and is AAT qualified. Anita is currently studying for her Chartered Accountancy qualification and has a wealth of experience with Sage bookkeeping and payroll.
Jess Uden MAAT started with us in July 2002 and is AAT qualified. Jess deals with a wide range of clients from the small sole trader to assisting in the audits of medium sized companies. She also deals with the preparation and completion of VAT Returns.
Chris Manington MAAT joined us in July 2008 and is AAT qualified. He deals with accounts production and assists other staff as required.
Christine O'Neill is our Payroll Administrator and advises clients on all aspects of payroll compliance as well as running a bureau service.
Janet Fabian is our Office Administrator and has been with the firm for nearly 30 years.
